Last week, we rang in a brand new year. While many things have changed over the course of the last year, one thing remains the same – The Lord and His character. This year, my prayer is that this blog would blossom into a source of encouragement for young women who are seeking deeper relationships with the creator. I pray that this space helps each person who comes across it to stand strong in faith. I hope that though I write these words, you would not look to me, but to the Lord. He is the reason that I write these words. I strive to do the things He’s called me to and this year, as I step into more consistent writing, I pray that we would all see Him more clearly. Today, I want to share three reasons why those of us who are believers can be encouraged by the character of Jesus.
The character of our savior never changes.
Let’s be honest, friend. The world around us is becoming increasingly chaotic. With each passing day, it feels as if there is another reason to panic, another tragedy, or another report of bad news. In our human nature, it feels right to be shaken by these occurrences. However, this is not our portion. There is more for us. We can hold tightly to an unwavering hope that we are never, ever alone.
When chaos ensues, Jesus remains steady and sure. He can be trusted because He holds us secure. Hebrews 13:8 reminds us of his unchanging character. It reads, “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.” Because of this, we can rest confident and assured of His promises, knowing that He will never leave or forsake His children.
Though we have entered into a new year, we have an unchanging savior.
From the foundation of the world, He loved us. He has always been and always will be loving.
The Bible tells us in Ephesians 1:4-6 that “4 For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love 5 he predestined us for adoption to sonship through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will— 6 to the praise of his glorious grace, which he has freely given us in the One he loves.”
Though He did not have to, the Lord chose you and I before the world was formed to be His dearly beloved children – sons and daughters of the King. Before the world was made, He knew that you and I would exist in this moment and time. He orchestrated each and every occurrence of our lives so that they may bring glory to Him. He uses us daily to accomplish His purposes. He desires deep and continual relationships with each of us. How lovely is the promise that we are deeply loved by an eternal, unchanging God.
Our savior is eternal.
Friend, we can trust in Jesus during these ever changing and shifting times because He is the only source of hope. He is the only one on Earth that never fades. Though there are undoubtedly struggles here, Christ always draws near. Because of His eternality, we can have hope that never ceases to exist.
I pray that these truths bring you hope today and help you to see the character of Christ more clearly. I encourage you to dig deep into scripture today, this week, and throughout the year. Get to know the savior of the world personally. He is our hope and strength in each day.
